Back carry is not recommended till approximately 5-6 months of age. When first learning use the instructions for starting from a couch or bed. Tie the carrier around you waist with knot in front of you.

Pick up your child and place on your hip.

Begin scooting your child towards your back while taking your arm up so he or she can pass under. Use your opposite arm to guide the baby from the other side. Keep at least one hand on child at all times. Lean forward while doing this.

Pull the carrier up over baby's back. Bring the shoulder strap up over your shoulders to the front.

Take shoulder straps down in "rucksack" style (like a backpack). Take straps back behind you by either going over baby's thighs or under if he or she prefers. Tie either in back, or for additional support, cross over baby's bum and bring to the front (beneath baby's legs) to tie at the waist.

Finished back carry in mei tai!
